TabMemo helps you attach simple notes to any webpage. We take your privacy seriously and designed TabMemo to work entirely within your browser. We do not collect, store, or process your data on any server we control.

How TabMemo Works

TabMemo is a client-only extension that stores all your notes and settings directly in your browser using Chrome's built-in storage systems:

Local Storage: Notes and settings are stored in chrome.storage.local on your device.
Chrome Sync (optional): If enabled, your notes sync across your Chrome devices using chrome.storage.sync, which is part of your Google account's encrypted sync storage.

No Third-Party Services

TabMemo does not use any third-party services, analytics, or tracking. The extension has no server component and communicates with no external services. This means:

No data is sent to us or any other company
No tracking of your browsing or note-taking activity
No ads or data collection of any kind

Permissions Explained

TabMemo requests the following Chrome permissions:

storage: To save your notes and settings in Chrome's local/sync storage
tabs: To detect the current webpage and update the extension icon/badge
notifications: To optionally show desktop notifications (can be disabled in Settings)

Your Data, Your Control

You have full control over your data:

Export all your notes to a JSON file at any time from Settings
Delete individual notes or clear all data through Chrome's extension settings
Toggle Cloud Sync on/off in Settings
Your notes are never sent to us or any third party

Security

Your notes benefit from Chrome's built-in security features. When using Chrome Sync, your data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Google's infrastructure.
